  • A series of meetings have been held on Aotea (Great Barrier Island), Ruapotaka Maungatapu Marae (Tauranga) and Whakapoumahara Marae (Whananaki),to confirm the mandate of Ngati Rehua - Ngati Wai ki Aotea Trust to enter into negotiations with the Crown regarding comprehensive settlement of Ngati Rehua - Ngati Wai ki Aotea's historical Treaty claims.  The purpose of the hui was to consider and vote on the following resolution:
  • "That the Ngati Rehua - Ngati Wai ki Aotea Trust is manadated to represent Ngati Rehua - Ngati Wai ki Aotea in negotiations with the Crown, regarding the comprehensive settlement Ngati Rehua - Ngati Wai ki Aotea historical Treaty of Waitangi claims."
  • All persons of Ngati Rehua - Ngati Wai ki Aotea descent are encouraged to attend.  Any person is identified as Ngati Rehua - Ngati Wai ki Aotea who is a member/descendant of Rehua, Te Awe, or Ranginui and affiliates to Kawa or Motairehe marae.
